New Moon Girl Media operates on a model of team interaction. Adult staff members and interns work with girl advisory and editorial boards as well as experts outside the organization to fulfill our mission of bringing girls voices to the world.
Current Advisory Boards Include:
Girls Editorial Board (GEB)
Girls, ages 8 to 12, mold the content of New Moon® : The Magazine for Girls and Their Dreams. They meet regularly to research topics of interest to girls, determine content and edit materials submitted by girls and professional adult writers. They also write original material, conduct interviews and work on graphic design.
Girls Web Editorial Board (GWEB)
Girls, ages 13 to 15, shape the orb28TM internet experience. Comprised of girls from all over the globe, the GWEB investigates new technologies and social networking experiences for girls, researches topics of interest, and meets online regularly to determine content and opportunities to expand the orb28 experience. They also contribute content and edit materials submitted by girls.
Girls Advisory Board (GAB)
Girls, ages 8 to 12, shape the NewMoonClub.com experience, helping us extend the focus of our magazine to an online social networking experience. They also advise New Moon on business decisions related to new product development.
Girls Marketing Advisory Board (GMAB)
Our newest advisory board is comprised of girls ages 8 to 15 who help us determine the best ways to spread the word about all of New Moon’s publications, experiences, products and services. They are the core members of the New Moon Street Team and serve as brand ambassadors.
Expert Advisory Board (EAB)
Adult advisors from various disciplines, the EAB counsels and provides crucial guidance to New Moon’s executive staff, ensuring that New Moon is always in touch with the latest trends in girls’ development and societal challenges.

Founded in 2007 when New Moon Publishing became New Moon Girl Media, the Board of Directors is responsible for the ongoing transition and evolution of the organization in order to serve the needs of girls around the world.

Melanie helps New Moon staff with organization and works on a variety of special projects. She is our system “go to” person. She handles reprint permissions and bookings of workshops and special events; and distributes all e-newsletters.
